about
This is a song that took a very long time to write. It's going to be on an album someday but in case I never get to it, I wanted to be sure this song was out there. So I'm releasing it as a single.
It's about how the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and coming to terms with finding yourself at the last bus stop on that road.
lyrics
And so I've gone to Hell
Despite my best intentions
And as far as I can tell
Heaven was just another door away.
Keeping it to myself
I found it hard to listen
Did the others wish me well,
Or bury me beneath their wordless weight?
By then the waves had crashed
My head was at a thousand knots below the seas
And the sleepless casualties
They warned me that this would happen someday
Breathing in the fumes
The kind that bring you down to your knees
And the fire is getting huge
And try as I might, I won't get away
Try as I might, I won't get away
My vocabulary's strong but not that strong
I memorize the dictionary
And even though it's wrong
I try my best to memorize you
Every law of motion
Every little butterfly effect
Scrawled in my almanac
With every wrong move I make I just get sent back
And so I've gone to Hell
Come face to face with Satan
Mephistopheles himself
'Cause all I do gets misconstrued
